Tomorrow is the final day of our Book Fair, and we will be closing at 2:00 PM. If you’ve been meaning to stop by or send your student with money for a new book, tomorrow is the day! There are still lots of great books waiting to find a home. 📖❤️
It’s also the last day of our Coin Drive, and tomorrow is “Anything Goes!” Students can bring bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, or pennies to help their class climb the leaderboard. The class with the most donations will earn a fun reward — cool grass dragons for every student! 🐉💰

Our special guests of honor? Kindergarten students from our central area schools, the very children who will walk these halls when the school opens in August 2027.
With golden shovels in hand and smiles all around, these future students helped kick off a project that is truly being built for them.
Board members, city and county leaders, district staff, and our construction partners joined together to mark the moment. One of the most meaningful highlights was this: Two key members of the construction team are Putnam County graduates, including an engineer and the site operations manager. Students who were once shaped by our schools are now helping build the future of education for the next generation.
That’s the power of community. That’s the impact of PCSD. As we continue investing in safe, modern learning environments, we’re proud of the momentum happening across our district.
Because everything we do… is for our students.
We are #ProudtobePCSD and proud to be #ShapingtheFuture

🇺🇸 In honor of President's Day, all Putnam County School District schools and offices will be closed Monday, February 16th. Have a safe weekend! 🇺🇸

At James A. Long Elementary, Ms. Carpenter’s fifth graders brought championship energy to the classroom during their Science Super Bowl!
Students teamed up for fast-paced review rounds covering key science concepts from grades 3–5, including matter, energy, Earth and space science, life science, and scientific thinking. After each perfect round, teams had the chance to score a field goal or touchdown, adding a game-day twist to their academic challenge.
The excitement built as the top teams from each class advanced to the championship round on stage. After an intense final competition, the Titans claimed the Science Super Bowl title, followed closely by the Blue Nuggets.
Every student earned a Super Bowl “ring” (Ring Pop!) to celebrate their hard work and teamwork.
A student from the winning Titans team was asked what she planned to do next after winning the Super Bowl, she proudly replied, “Get a 5 on my Science FAST test!”Now that’s a championship mindset! 💪

📵🌱 Digital Wellness Week Tip!
Raising digitally smart kids starts with conversation. Preparing students for the digital world means talking openly about online safety, digital footprints, and responsible choices — especially as they grow.
As part of this important conversation, we invite families to revisit a past podcast featuring Superintendent Rick Surrency, where he discusses online safety and supporting students in today’s digital environment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHBRnEe367Y
Thank you for participating in Digital Wellness Week. Let’s continue building healthy, safe digital habits together. 💚 💙

📵🌱 Digital Wellness Week Tip!
Screens are everywhere — so balance matters. Too much or low-quality screen time can impact sleep, behavior, and social development, especially for younger children. Think of screens as a tool — not a babysitter.💚💙
#DigitalWellnessWeek #ProudtobePCSD

📵🌱 Digital Wellness Week Tip!
Healthy screen limits help kids thrive. As children grow, screen rules should grow with them — focusing on balance, sleep, and family connection. Bonus reminder: kids notice adult screen habits, too. 👀💚💙
#DigitalWellnessWeek #ProudtobePCSD

Quality over quantity matters when it comes to screen time. Educational, age-appropriate content — especially when families watch and talk together — makes screen time more meaningful.
A few small adjustments can make a big impact. 💚💙
