PCSD is excited to announce the addition of the Building Construction Technologies Career Pathway for our secondary students. The District has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Frank V. Oliver, Jr. Foundation for Putnam County to begin implementation of the program.
This PCSD Career Pathway will focus on the areas of construction aligned to the identified Standard Occupation Classification codes including plumbing, maintenance, HVAC, masonry, electrical, and carpentry.
The format will include both in-classroom curriculum study using the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and on-the-job training. The NCCER standardized curriculum includes portable credentials to help address the current skilled workforce shortage.
Students who complete the required curriculum expectations and industry certification exams will be ready to continue their skills in the workforce!
Dr. Surrency shared, "I am very grateful for the Frank V. Oliver, Jr. Foundation partnership. This significant contribution, along with other funding sources, will ensure that we can offer this exciting career pathway to our students beginning in the 2022-23 school year.”
