Parent Drop-off Procedures

1. Drivers must come in to the school off of 315 southbound, turn right on Strickland Road and then right into the parent parking lot. (Those heading east on Strickland should not turn into the school.)

2. Once you are safely off of the highway, please make sure your children are ready to get out of the vehicle.

3. The lines are two lanes until you get to the area just before drop off where you must merge. Please merge appropriately.

4. Students should only get out of the car once they are past the fence at the sidewalk.

5. Students should exit quickly with the assistance of employees. Employees must leave their post at 7:50 to report to their duty areas for student coverage.

6. When leaving the parking lot, vehicles must turn RIGHT on Strickland Road. (There will be no left turns out of the parking lot during drop-off or pick-up.). Once you turn right on Strickland, you will then take a right on Francis. From there, if you need to go back to 315, you will turn right on Tremont and it will take you to 315. If you need to go to Hwy 20, continue on Francis to 20.

7. Students must stay in their cars until they are the first 5 cars in the line and being released. No student can walk across the parking lot.

8. Students cannot be dropped off on 315 or Strickland to walk up to the school.

9. Only those who live within a 2-mile radius of the school can be walkers. Walkers must come across with the crossing guard. There are some who come from Strickland Road and they walk to the employees who are aware at the sidewalk. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Please, DO NOT MAKE U-TURNS on Hwy 315 in front of or near the school. This is dangerous as there are many cars on the road.

Parent Pick-up Procedures

1. Drivers must come in to the school off of 315 southbound, turn right on Strickland Road and then right into the parent parking lot. (Those heading east on Strickland should not turn into the school.)

2. Before turning into school, you must display the number assigned to your family for pick-up. This number must be displayed until you leave the parking lot.

3. Employees cannot buckle students in. If you need to buckle your child in, please move forward and pull off to the side once you are out of the pickup line and before you leave the campus.

4. When leaving the parking lot, vehicles must turn RIGHT on Strickland Road. (There will be no left turns out of the parking lot during drop-off or pick-up.)

5. If you are picking up a student and do not have the number, you will be asked to park and wait till parent pick-up is complete. You will then need to proceed to the office and provide ID to check a child out. You must be listed on the child’s information papers.

Matthies WELCOME TO our School (1)
This is a very important reminder of our drop-off and pick-up procedures. This is not a new procedure but we do ask that everyone understand their will be over 100 new students coming on campus who haven't mastered the procedures. Please show grade and understand, tomorrow will be a lengthy process. I assure you after a couple of days, everyone will know and appreciated the procedures for our students safety. MORNING ARRIVAL The campus will be “Wheels Only” for student drop off and dismissal. What this means is that students will go home or come to school one of three ways: Bus Parent drop-off or pick-up by vehicle only though the line Walk (based on address listed in Skyward–must live less than two miles from JES). There will be some procedures for students 3rd grade and below who walk home. DROP OFF in the Mornings: Parents/guardians ARE NOT TO GET OUT OF THEIR VEHICLES and must drive through the parent drop off line to let students out in the morning. Students cannot walk across the parking lot. If you need to visit the office, you will need to wait until after drop off is completed. Parents/visitors cannot come on campus until after 7:50 unless you have a SCHEDULED appointment/meeting/conference. DO NOT DROP STUDENTS OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. We had many instances where accidents almost happened. OUR STUDENTS SAFETY outweighs any inconvenience to you. DISMISSAL At the end of the day, approximately 860 students leave campus at the same time in a very limited space. Therefore, dismissal procedures are crucial to maximize safety. There are three dismissal groups: Bus - Students who ride the school bus. Parent Pick-up - Students who get into a vehicle in an assigned loop. Parent Pick- Up runs from 2:35-3:00. Drivers do not exit the vehicle and must keep their tag visible in the Parent- Pick Up line. Students who walk home (must have a home address in Skyward within 2-miles of the school). It is important to inform your child's teacher on the way your child/children will go home each day. If you change the way your child/children leave school, please contact the front office or directly call the office at (386)684-2130 by 2:00 p.m. with that information. We will not be able to guarantee any changes after 2:00 pm. If you will be picking up your child in a personal vehicle, you will be required to have a car pick up tag, which will have an assigned number, provided by the school, hanging from the rearview mirror. No one will be permitted to walk up to the school to pick up their child during dismissal. If you do not have the number assigned to your vehicle hanging in the rearview mirror, we will ask that you park and wait until dismissal is done. You will then need to report to the office with an ID to check your child out after parent pickup is completed. Important Dismissal Reminders: Remember, these procedures are in place in an effort to keep our children safe. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this causes – we believe our children's well-being outweighs any inconvenience.
