Q.I. Roberts Jr.-Sr. High School's eSports Team is currently ranked #1 in the country!

Last year the team was ranked #4 Nationally at the end of the season and this year there is a good chance they may make it to the National Championship, held in Texas.

Principal Joe Theobold said, "We started this program last year with great support from the IT department. Mr. Cantrell is a former professional eSports Athlete and is a great asset to our Computer Science program and eSports teams, teaching AI and AP Computer Science Principles. Our players have been dedicated and focused, practicing on their own and as a team. We are incredibly proud of these guys. eSports is a growing industry and our students are not only playing but learning about the careers open in gaming. We strive for excellence in all we do, this is just another example of that spirit."

They compete in the High School eSports League, where teams from around the country compete in a Fall season and Spring season. The top 4 teams from each season (after playoffs are finished) are invited to compete in the National Championships held in May, where students compete for prizes and scholarship money.

Coach Chris Cantrell said, "We will have teams in the playoffs for games such as Halo and Brawlhalla and we are looking to make a championship run this year. The Halo team finished the regular season with as a perfect 8-0. This is our second year competing in the HSEL, and I am very proud of the hard work and dedication our students have shown."

Congratulations Knights!
