PCSD values our transportation staff and seeks to hire new staff ready to shape the future of our community!
We are pleased to share that the following agreement was reached earlier today between the Putnam County School District and the Putnam Federation of Teachers United regarding a bonus for new bus drivers:
- New bus drivers will receive a sign on bonus of $1000. Any new hire bus driver candidate that has been employed with PCSD within the last twelve (12) months is ineligible for the sign on bonus.
- A $500 bonus will be awarded to any PCSD employee who recommends a bus driver for hire who successfully completes a probationary period.
- This agreement ends on September 26, 2022.
Additionally, the District is proud to announce an increase in hourly wages for bus drivers and bus attendants pending contract ratification. Bus drivers will receive a $3.00 per hour increase, and bus attendants will receive a $1.00 per hour increase. This will be awarded retroactively to the beginning of the 2021-22 school year.
Dr. Surrency stated, “This is a great step moving forward to meet the needs of our transportation staff and our community. We will soon offer a more competitive salary for our transportation staff while rewarding those staff who have shown continued dedication to our students and community.”
These improvements are in addition to the previously agreed upon attendance incentive for bus drivers and attendants.
