On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, PCSD school leaders gathered for a day of professional learning focused on strengthening systems, clarifying priorities, and laying the groundwork for a successful year ahead. With the theme Building Schools. Shaping Futures., the day—carefully planned by Jonathan Hinke and Sarajean McDaniel—challenged leaders to reflect on the structures they’re creating within their schools and the legacy those structures will leave behind.
The day began with a powerful graduate panel titled “The Legacy We Build.”
Garrett Lee, Zhane Brown, Mason Meadows, and Jordan Roberts—all proud PCSD graduates—shared how their school experiences influenced their paths in fields such as law, skilled trades, information technology, and public service. Their honesty and insight reminded us of the lasting impact we have beyond the classroom.
Questions posed to the panel included:
What was something a teacher or principal did that stuck with you?
Was there a time you felt your school experience set you up for success later in life?
If you could give advice to school leaders today, what would it be?
What was your favorite cafeteria food?
Their responses were heartfelt and impactful.
“Hearing from our graduates validated the work we do every single day.”
“It brought me back to my WHY.”
“Their stories reminded me that our work truly shapes futures.”
“I got teary-eyed more than once. What a powerful way to start the day.”
Many administrators left planning to replicate the panel in their own buildings to reconnect their teams to purpose.
Throughout the day, administrators participated in a series of breakout sessions aligned with district priorities. Topics included using SchoolCity for data-driven decision-making, ADA compliance training, retirement planning, strengthening school communication, and fostering a culture of data privacy.
The day closed with reflection and commitment. Using bricks to symbolize next steps, leaders identified key actions to delegate and opportunities to build capacity within their teams.
