PJSHS, Beck Automotive Group, and Lowes Recognize Automotive Student Achievements
February 22, 2023
Students in the Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair program at Palatka Jr./Sr. High School were recognized with a luncheon in Panther Den honoring those who have received their ASE certifications.
PCSD Superintendent Rick Surrency, alongside Principal JT Stout led the introductions of the PJSHS Automotive Program and Community Partners.
PJSHS Automotive Instructor, Dave Garison, gave an in depth background of the program, the importance….“CTE Programs bring the opportunity for career to the classroom.” Can leave high school with the tools for a career and life.
In the last four years that PJSHS students have had the opportunity for certification 89 students have passed 497 ASE certification tests… 40 of those have been during the current school year.
Craig Alexander from Beck Automotive Group shared how beneficial programs like PJSHS’s Automotive Program are for the community. He called on various Service Managers throughout Beck Automotive Group to stand and give a bit of their background story to the students in attendance. Many of them related with the students in the room, encouraging them to stay committed and to continue putting in the work.
Mr. Alexander was also accompanied by PJSHS alumni that had graduated and currently work for Beck Automotive. To have peers that went through the program showing success in the chosen career field right here in Putnam County was powerful.
Each student received a certificate, patch, and a complete tool box generously donated by Beck Automotive Group and Lowes. Students were also able to network with representatives from Beck Automotive Group.
Special thanks to the PCSD CTE Department for providing a delicious Sonny’s lunch, Lowes for their generous tool box donation, and Beck Automotive Group for their continued support of our Automotive program.
Congratulations on your great achievement!
