Notice of Intent

Notice of Intent to Submit an application for 2024-25 Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program, authorized under Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (TAPS Number 25B030). The Putnam County School District has submitted a Notice of Intent to submit a Proposal for a 21st Century Community Learning Centers program grant, for eligible students of:

Ochwilla Elementary School and Mellon Learning Center to be served in the areas mentioned below for the 2024-25 grant year. The purpose of the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Program, as described in federal statute, is to provide opportunities for eligible communities to establish or expand activities that focus on:

  1. Improved academic achievement especially in core subjects of ELA/Reading and Math.

  2. An array of STEAM enrichment activities that reinforce and complement the academic programs as well as physical, social, and emotional learning.

  3. Family engagement activities that support literacy and other educational services for families of participating children.

Putnam County School District has identified the following schools in need of support: Ochwilla Elementary School and Mellon Learning Center. We are asking for community input regarding the writing of this grant.

The community also lacks the resources to establish after school centers that could benefit students. In addition, the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century program would help improve student attendance, behavior, and student achievement of eligible students at these two schools.

For questions regarding this submission or to provide input, please contact Kirk Collier, Administrative Assistant and Community Liaison, PCSD 21st Century Community Learning Centers At 386-329-0543 or email kcollier@my.putnamschools.org.
