The Putnam County School District is delighted to share the success and celebration of the recently held PCSD Top Scholar Awards Ceremony and the presentation of the esteemed Robert W. Webb Award of Excellence. Hosted on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Jim Pignato Theatre at C.L. Overturf, Jr. District Center, the event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of The Palatka Daily News.

The evening commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Rick Surrency, Superintendent of the Putnam County School District, followed by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance led by Alyssa Turner from Interlachen Jr.-Sr. High School. The National Anthem was beautifully performed by Gabrielle Chapman from Q.I. Roberts Jr.-Sr. High School and Andrew McClellan from Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School. Emme Delaney from Crescent City Jr.-Sr. High School delivered an uplifting invocation, invoking blessings for the event and its participants.

Dr. Thomas Hunter delivered an inspiring Keynote Address, motivating our scholars to continue striving for excellence in their academic pursuits and beyond. Jennifer Moates, Publisher of the Palatka Daily News, shared remarks on behalf of the event's sponsor, expressing appreciation for the remarkable achievements of Putnam County's scholars.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Top Scholar Awards to outstanding students from various schools within the Putnam County School District. Principals from each school - Joe Theobold from Q.I. Roberts Jr.-Sr. High School, Mary Wood from Putnam Virtual School, Cathy Oyster from Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School, Amber Symonds from Interlachen Jr.-Sr. High School, and Tim Adams from Crescent City Jr.-Sr. High School - proudly recognized their respective top scholars for their exceptional academic achievements and contributions to their communities.

Following the Top Scholar Awards, the audience eagerly awaited the presentation of the Robert W. Webb Award of Excellence. Dr. Rick Surrency provided insights into the award's history before Douglas Webb presented the prestigious accolade. This year's recipient, Emme Delaney, was celebrated for her outstanding accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to service.

Emme DelaneyEmme Delaney, daughter of Travis & Erin Delaney, has left an indelible mark on her school and community through her exemplary dedication to academic excellence, leadership roles, and extensive volunteer work. Her achievements, including over 411 community service hours, participation in varsity sports, and leadership roles in various organizations, truly embody the spirit of the Robert W. Webb Award of Excellence. Emme's dedication to academic excellence and service serves as an inspiration to us all.

In closing, Laura France, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, extended her gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and attendees for their support in making the event a resounding success. The Putnam County School District is immensely proud of its top scholars and the legacy of excellence they uphold.
