During our recent early-release day, teachers collaborated with colleagues from various subject areas and grade levels to participate in activities that promote enriching academic discussions, just like those we expect from our students.
We give special thanks to Mrs. Brazzeal and Mrs. Cherry, who led this professional learning. We’re grateful for amazing teacher-leaders who share meaningful classroom structures and activities with their colleagues! #PantherPride 🐾
Feed the Need of Putnam County is hosting a “What Does Hunger Look Like?” Art Contest & Community Gallery Sale and wants to see what our student artists can create!
Students can submit an original piece of artwork based on their grade-level theme:
K–5: What does Happy & Healthy look like?
6–8: What does hunger look like to you?
9–12: What does hunger look like to you?
Cash prizes will be awarded in each category & student artwork will be featured in a community gallery and silent auction. 50% of the proceeds will support Feed the Need of Putnam County, and 50% will go directly to the student artist.
Deadline to enter: Friday, October 30, 2026
Gallery & Awards: Saturday, November 21, 2026 at 5:00PM at The Larimer Arts Center, Palatka

Seniors, save the date! Don't forget about the FAFSA Frenzy at SJR State next Monday night. This is a community outreach. You do not need to be going to SJR State to attend this event. This is for anyone planning on attending a trade school, college or university. This is where Pell Grants are given and scholarship money that colleges have to give away. Remember, most colleges give away all of their money by December so take advantage of this night.
Go let the professionals help you for free!!! This is the only time that they will offer this type of evening.
Some parents may say "we don't qualify for Pell Grants so we aren't going to do this." Mrs. Ogle's family doesn't qualify for Pell Grants either, but this is how her daughters received scholarships from the colleges they attended. Seriously!!!
If you are planning on going to UNF, they have a special incentive for you to receive more money if you finish your FAFSA by Oct 14th and are Pell Grant eligible.
SJR will be here at PJSHS Friday during your lunch to help you create your account so parents are invited to attend to upload their financial documents at that time. This is the first step. Lunch will be provided to those who come to the Panther Den on Friday work on their FAFSA.
Students in grades 7-11 who are interested in mentoring support with the benefit of financial award upon graduation are encouraged to consider being a part of the Take Stock In Children mentorship program. Use the following link to learn more and to apply to see if you qualify for placement with a designated mentor in Putnam County.
