By establishing PBIS, James A. Long Elementary is developing student skills, making changes to the school
environment, acknowledging appropriate student behavior, and using data to identify needed supports for its students.
James A. Long Elementary is working to increase positive student behavioral outcomes. Schools that have
received training in PBIS, have shown fidelity of implementation, and are monitoring school-wide outcomes are recognized by the FLPBIS Project’s Model Schools program.
James A. Long Elementary is being recognized by the FLPBIS Project as a PBIS Model School. To earn this level
of achievement, schools must meet specific criteria that can be found on the FLPBIS Project website. This Model Schools program acknowledges a school’s continued commitment to the effective implementation of PBIS and efforts towards achieving positive and equitable outcomes for all
students during a challenging school year. Schools can build upon their model school status by exploring additional training areas offered by FLPBIS, such as restorative practices, cultural
responsiveness, trauma-informed care, and advanced tiers of support.
