It is recommended that students in virtual school meet the following requirements:
Demonstrate proficiency (Level 3 or higher) on FAST Reading & Math State Assessments.
Passing grades for subjects and/or courses from the previous school year’s enrollment.
On track for graduation and/or promotion to the next grade.
Positive history of attendance at their previous school.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C average) for students 9-12.
Note that students who do not meet all of the recommendations listed above may still be considered for enrollment—we review each student’s individual situation before making a final decision. Scoring proficient with level 3 or higher is a critical attribute since students must read and comprehend all on screen the content themselves.
What happens after I submit an application?
After a parent or guardian clicks on the "apply now" link above, completes the application and hits submit, they will see a pop up response thanking them for applying and letting you know we received it.
We will review the student's data & contact the parent via email to schedule an in-person, student interview. Interviews will be scheduled for June & July. Both the parent/guardian and student must attend the in-person interview.
What is a Student Interview & when do I know if the student is accepted?
At the in-person, student interview, PVS staff will meet with you and your child to review & discuss the student’s academic history, including attendance, grades, test scores, discipline, and any other factors that may impact academic success with Putnam Virtual School. There will be a brief introduction to the Putnam Virtual School system. Required paperwork will be collected.
Enrollment decisions are not generally finalized during the interview meeting. Following the interview, PVS staff will review each student on an individual basis to be sure that PVS is the best option for the student. If Putnam Virtual School is not the best option for the student, alternative virtual school options may be suggested.
Families will be notified of acceptance via email after the interview. The emailed notice will provide information on next steps.
