Q.I. Roberts Jr.-Sr. High School held a “Meet the Knights” orientation for 7th grade students July 21.
Jana Wilhite, Cambridge coordinator at Q.I., led student groups and teachers through a series of interactive activities designed to foster conversation and communication through completion of fun and silly tasks.
“These activities allowed students to “break the ice” and get to know their fellow Knights, teachers and school staff before the first day of school,” said Mary Wood Piazza, principal at Q.I. “Research shows that anxiety levels are reduced and students better integrate into their new school when a transition activity such as this is held.”
While the students were getting to know each other, their parents took care of paperwork and picked up their students’ Chrome books.
“Everyone convened in the cafeteria to witness our first-ever induction ceremony,” Wood Piazza said. “Our Knights took a knee and were sworn in as official Q.I. Roberts Knights.”
