More than 40 first-year teachers and teachers new to Putnam County attended the district’s New Teacher Institute July 25-28.
Presentations and training included teachers’ resources, software, technology integration, benefits and teacher evaluations.
New teachers also participated in roundtable discussions with current teachers from throughout the district who just completed their first year or two of teaching. Those current district teachers also provided ideas and suggestions for what the institute should cover for the new teachers.
Jonathan Hinke, district school improvement specialist and turn-around lead, said the goal of having the four-day institute was for new teachers to meet people and build relationships with district staff.
