Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart honored Georgia-Pacific Palatka Operations as one of the nearly 50 Florida business partners in education with the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards. The awards were made during the Florida Chamber Foundation Education Summit in Orlando in June.
“It’s a pleasure to recognize these statewide business leaders who have invested their time and resources to support Florida’s students,” said Stewart. “Business partnerships provide valuable real-world experiences that are essential in preparing students for continued success on their academic journeys and beyond. These partnerships are mutually beneficial, and I hope that today’s event will inspire more business leaders to help students in their communities get ready to enter the workforce.”
The Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards, presented by Wells Fargo, are administered by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation to encourage successful alliances within the business community and among local school districts for the benefit of Florida’s students. Sponsors of the 29th annual awards program are MGT of America, Inc., FPL and Kyra Solutions.
The Florida Education Foundation serves as the direct support organization for the Florida Department of Education. As a valued partner to public education, the Foundation’s mission is to invest in high achievement for every student to contribute to Florida's globally competitive workforce.
