On May 1, 2008 the District moved to a new email system for all putnamschools.org email users.
There are three ways to access the district's email system: Use Outlook,or use the First Class desktop client (which looks similar to Outlook but allows users to enjoy all the rich features of the new system) or use the web interface when you cannot use one of the other two methods.
- Outlook – If you are using Outlook and you choose to continue to use Outlook your email will work exactly the same. You will need to enable smtp authentication ( view directions )
- First-Class Email Client (like Outlook) - if you choose to use the new client, minimal training, if any, on how to send and receive email will be necessary. For all the other rich features, some additional training will be necessary and will be scheduled by your tech contact. Download the First Class Desktop Client
- Web Interface – if you choose to use the web interface, minimal training, if any, on how to send and receive email will be necessary. For all the other features, some additional training will be necessary and will be scheduled by your technology contact. Login to First Class Web Mail
Tutorials are available from the help menu and on line - First Class Help Files and Tutorials

If you use the district's old remote webmail interface at pcsd.putnamschools.org to send and receive your email, please remove any messages from your inbox that you would like to keep. Mail that is left in the inbox on the remote mail server will be "view only" after May 1, 2008.
