The Putnam County School District recently received a grant to provide after school programs in schools throughout the county for students in grades K – 12.
The purpose of the after school programs is to provide tutoring, homework help, academic and enrichment opportunities. Children are able to participate in activities which reinforce and complement the regular school day through engaging, hands-on learning opportunities which will help students who are struggling academically.
The enrichment activities include cooking, physical fitness, chess club, fencing, art, music and much more. The School Board recently approved the formation of “Beat The Streets” boxing club which will begin at Crescent City Jr/Sr High School under the supervision of a Police Athletic League.
There are ten after school sites in operation throughout the county. Each program runs Monday through Thursday for three hours each day until the end of the school year.
We are currently accepting applications for new students. If you feel that your child would benefit from these after school offerings, please complete the application linked above and return it to the front office at your child's school. For more information contact Jeanie Thompson at 329-0651. Program Evaluations are available upon request from the Superintendent's Office. |
