Moseley Media Specialist Sydney Breton recently learned that her school received a $2,500 Pizza Hut Book-It Page Turner Grant, one of only 32 recipients nationwide. The Moseley grant, titled “Building Home Libraries,” was written to address the need of many of their students who have few, if any, books at home.

Approximately seven hundred grade appropriate titles, each with a specific character development theme, have been purchased.

After being incorporated into library story time lessons and related classroom extension activities, the books will be sent home with all Pre-K through fifth grade students, so that they may share them with their families. Mrs. Breton says that “the implementation of this project addresses many of our educational goals; increased access to books, enhancing student literacy, parental involvement, character development, and inspiring young readers with quality literature featuring diverse characters and themes.”
